Patrick went from having only heard of the Elgg social networking platform, to writing plugins  submitting patches to the core development team in a matter of weeks. Discussing potential site features with Patrick helped me create clearer requirements as well as avoid potential pitfalls on functionality we couldn't or shouldn't implement. He adapts well to unforeseen changes, such as an API overhauled midway through a project, and unexpected OS and filesystem problems. Patrick was patient and supportive working with me, an inexperienced supervisor, and did not hesistate to ask for additional information when I was unclear. He works proactively when given little or no documentation beyond a one or two sentence description of needed functionality. Given a vague requirement to make the site more accessible, Patrick presented a variety of focused solutions to address various shortcomings of the site. His work has made the site demonstrably better for the end users, and much easier for administrators to manage.
